About PNHP Los Angeles

Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) is a single issue organization advocating a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health program. PNHP has more than 19,000 members and Chapters across the United States. PNHP has a state chapter, the California Physicians Alliance (CaPA), which formed independent of PNHP in 1987 and then joined PNHP but retained their original name.

PNHP Los Angeles Chapter (PNHP-LA) is the first regional chapter of PNHP in California and serves as the base for over 900 members of PNHP in and around Los Angeles. The relationship of PNHP-LA to CaPA and PNHP as well as their respective roles is illustrated below. The Los Angeles Chapter formed in April, 2009. They have 10 officers and a growing district leader network that does monthly legislative advocacy actions.

PNHP-LA has a monthly meeting held on the second Saturday of the month at 9am at 2258 22nd St., Santa Monica that is open to both members and nonmembers.






PNHP Los Angeles Mission Statement

PNHP LA is an organization of volunteer physicians, healthcare professionals and healthcare activists focused on grassroots activism for a national health program.

Our activism has three objectives:
(i) Education - inform the public and press about the evidence supporting a single payer national health program;
(ii) Advocacy - execute a district-by-district legislative advocacy network for the Los Angeles region.
(iii) Growth- provide an organizational infrastructure that supports physician and nonphysician activists build the grassroots movement for a national health program.
